The Butterfly Gallery was created in 2006, by Mary and Bill Ahls to promote local artists and art. They wanted to provide an alternative to the boring universal sameness of mass productions and imports that seem to make every store the same no matter where you travel. Mary Ahls is the gallery owner and has over 40 years of art experience. She works in water color, charcoal, pen and ink, color pencils, acrylics and oil. She says,” I could not buy the variety and talent displayed in our gallery and gift shop if I was buying things from a commercial venue. The artists choose their own works, and their individual personalities show through their works. That is why there is such a fantastic variety of work and pricing at any given day.” New Tucson artists are invited to audition by appointment.
